Nowruz (Nevruz, Navruz) is kept on 21 March, when day and night come even, and counts as new year among many Turkic peoples. Fires are lit and leapt over, old things are broken, new clothes are put on.
Turkic telling loads the day with a second meaning: the exit from Ergenekon. A clan multiplies in a valley closed on all sides by mountains, and a smith melts the mountain to open a way out. So the Nowruz fire is the festival of iron as much as of spring.
In Balbal, Nowruz Feast is a seasonal floor — it comes forward around 21 March.
